Cult Fiction (by )

Cult Fiction

As I mentioned before I have postponed my birthday until the summer and Alaric is organising me a 30th birthday party on the theme of cult fiction. We have settled on the date of the weekend 17th-19th of June. Al is going to be making an electonic invite page etc... and I will get around to facebook invites and things (but obviously if I've forgotten you then I probably think I've already invited you so prod me!).

Even though Al said he would organise everything I really wanted to do some sort of picture for the theme for the invites - hence the picture at the top. I just thought I'd share it all and give you all fair warning too 🙂

Who knows if I get time I might even print out some invites 🙂

The picture itself is ment as a frame from text saying things like 30th Birthday etc... When I it is themed I mean I want an excuess to ware a corset 😉 I am hoping that someone will bring a projector too so I can have my favourite films etc... running.

If you want to know more ask Al as he is organiser 😉

Create Your Space (by )

This is my entry to the ESA (European Space Agency) art competition Create Your Space. If you like it you have until the beginning of February (2011) to vote for it. You vote by liking my comment on the ESA image on their Facebook page - here is the link you'll need to tell you how to vote ;). I hope you all like it. I believe you need to "like" the page before you can vote. I am Sarah Snell-Pym and this entry is linked under the image of Christer Fuglesang's Space Walk - it is quiet a way down their wall on Facebook.

Did Life fall into this cradle
This Earth, this home -
We now attempt to climb out of?
Or is it more than a cradle
Some crucible or potters wheel
Shaping and baking us in forms renewed?

Maybe in truth it is a bit of both
And as humanity takes its first toddler steps
We begin to see the variety that our world holds

LIFE -

Life here investigated
In case of alien brethren
Life searched for by the heart if not the mind
As the astronaut steps out into the void
For themselves, for us, for a future
A future - As yet unknown
A future for us all
As we grow too large for this world to contain
A cradle we have explored from end to end

But it is only with eyes freshly opened
To the wonders beyond
That we begin to see what we have missed
That which hides in plan sight
The beauty of our world
We seek its twins, our mirrors -
Its twisted folly of form

OUT THERE

And if we are on our own?
Then look at the wonders the search has wrought
And if we are not?
Then maybe we will truly see ourselves
For the first time

Until then the void is calling
And all these things?

These investigations
These satellites
And images -
Are our jumping off point
Our call to the unknown

Do you wonder what it will answer?

Merry Christmas ;) (by )

So obviously we have missed any hope of posting things to people so I have drawn a Christmas Mammoth to share with you all - consider it your Christmas card from Us here 🙂

This Months Challenges (by )

I'm going for easy challenges this Month due to a) having killed my wrist with the Nanowrimo and my 72, 000 words b) having that whole Christmas thingy! and c) now being very pregnant!

So I am taking the easy options of doing a blog post every day and an hour of art/craft a day.

I am putting up links to past and present christmas crafts and cooking on Rachel Cotterill as part of her fun Craft Christmas Count Down! I'm aiming for a link a day 🙂

I'm quiet chuffed that my Fimo Christmas Tree Vase was picked as a highlight 🙂

Jean’s Dino Extravaganza! (by )

Saturday saw Jean's fifth birthday and it was dinosaur themed!

I haven't got all the photo's yet but here are a couple to be getting on with 🙂

Mum made Jean a triceratops outfit from Sew a Dinosaur a book I picked up in a charity shop 🙂 It is a fantastic outfit and came out better than in the book (she made some adjustments!).

We had dinosaur biscuits 🙂 Jean made!

And a Dinosaur and Volcano cake!

Jean announced that I am the Bestest Baker in the whole world when she saw the cake 🙂

We also had volcano cupcakes! volcano cupcakes

Food wise there were also over 90 dino cupcakes with either flintstones or jelly dinosaurs on them! And dinosaur shapes sandwiches and little dino chocs me and Jean spent three days making!

Me and Jean also made Hama dinosaurs as decorations 🙂 hama dinosuars

Jean also decorated lots of cardboard dinos as decorations 🙂 These also appeared in the Dino make and do along with stickers and cloth party bags for the kids to decorate!

We had a pre-historic safari where we found a mother load of dino goodies 🙂 (even if the kids didn't believe that Alaric was a real trail leader especially once Rob turned up in his National Geographic gear!). There were a few party games and the Land Before Time I, II and III for the kids to watch in the evening 🙂

I was a little bit behind with putting the food out and forgot I had made Jelly and ice-creams for the kids but think it went well 🙂 Jean liked it anyway 🙂
