Going Live! (by alaric)
The site is a business and personal directory, called GONUMBER. What we've developed is version 2 of the site, adding some new features but mainly being a brand new architecture which will allow the site to add some rather innovative new features. See the user manual for a detailled introduction.
It's the brainchild of O'WONDER, a business with a long history going back to when I were knee-high to a duck.
Currently, we only have the 'minimal' skin (designed for mobile phones and PDAs) up, as can be seen by looking at a listing, until the styling of the most-things-on-one-page skin is ready.
Also, you can't currently sign up online; to grow it at a controlled rate, we're selling business listings directly for the time being, and giving out personal listings via word of mouth.
However, you can already see some of the snazzy features that set it apart from the competition; the opening hours icon on a business listing links to detailled opening hours, but has a green tick if the place is open now, or a red cross if not. And clicking on the little menu icon (top right) brings you to a price list. A listing may have multiple locations, each with their own opening hours, and any number of price lists, as required. And you may elect to keep your email address hidden, in which case people can contact you via 'first contact' (the little alien landing icon - hey, I just designed the backend, I didn't design the interface, ok?), which offers a 'contact us' form with email confirmation the first time a particular sender uses it, to help limit spam.
