First wedding anniversary (by alaric)
Today it's one year since we got married!
Well, we still seem to be getting on OK 😉 I annoy Sarah by forgetting things, and Sarah annoys me by not putting things away, but neither are a very big deal and we both seem to be getting better at them anyway!
The theme of a first wedding anniversary is paper. As a present for Sarah, I bought special paper for acrylic painting, an artist's palette, and a big book about painting that's full of useful reference information and tips and tricks, since she's been doing a lot of painting with acrylics lately.
Funnily enough, she'd painted me a picture with acrylics:
For some reason, the scanning has really accentuated the brush marks - it looks much better in real life, with the brush marks giving it a gentle texture rather than glaring at one like that. I've tried a Gaussian blur filter, but I can't seem to filter out the brush marks without starting to destroy the finer details...
And Sarah bought me a book about cutting fluid in metal machining, which includes loads of useful information such as lathe feed rates for different materials, a book about writing science fiction for profit, and some cat-themed writing accessories!
